Jason Halpern is the founder and head of JMH Development, a real estate development company in New York. The firm has over $500 million worth of development projects since 2007. He is currently working with Kushner Companies and the Rockpoint Group to convert the Wild Turkey bourbon warehouse, located in Williamsburg into condos. JMH turned the facility into a rental property in 2010, but it will now take the next step to condominiums.
Last year, Halpern teamed up with Madison Estates to purchase the Brooklyn Heights Cinema, which will be converted to condos as well. Jason is purchasing a site in Long Island City where he will build a hotel.
Jason got his start in the real estate business at Halpern Enterprise, a firm owned and operated by his late father Joel. Jason started JMH in the late 1990s. His father was killed in 1981 in an offshore powerboat race. His company was sold to Reckson Associates in the late 1990s.
Halpern has a teenage son, Max. The two spend a lot of time together, scuba diving and attending sporting events. Halpern has inherited his late father’s love of fast cars. He raced them in the early 2000s.
The largest project Halpern has completed to date is 184 Kent Avenue in Brooklyn, New York. It was a warehouse converted to 340 luxury apartments. It is a condo conversion from a rental building currently. . Halpern lives and has his office in the building. He is currently engaged to Veronika Gomeniouk, a Ukrainian model.
