Highland Capital Management: Helping Those that Need it the Most

As the New Year continues on it is already off to a fantastic start at the George W. Bush Presidential Center that happens to be connected to the George W. Bush Institute that is located in Dallas. Throughout the years Highland Capital Management has been able to give over $10 million to help fund the public program series that is called Engage at the Bush Center. Along with this huge contribution Boeing Corp. has already committed $10 million that will go to help the facilities Military Service Initiative that is to help post-9/11 veterans. Highland Capital Management happens to actually be the founding benefactor at the Bush Center and since 2012 has contributed well more than $5 million to the institute. Jim Dondero, Highland Capitals president and co-founder has stated that the company is very impressed by the national influence that the Bush Center has managed to of made. He also says that Highland Capital is more than glad to support the work at the institute and also loves being a part of what they do.

The very first Engage event that was sponsored by the Highland Capital Management is a two-part program that happens to of been created with the National Constitution Center and is set for Feb. 5. The evening will begin with a conversation that will be presented by Christopher Scalia, who is the son of U.S Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. The book actually happens to be a collection of what is said to be his father’s favorite speeches. After the book reading, there will be a panel of experts that will come together and talk about today’s media landscape, along with also discussing what James Madison, author of First Amendment, thought of it. Also participating will be Jeffrey Rosen, who is the CEO and president of the National Constitution Center, and Amy Mitchell, who is an expert on Madison. The event will be overseen by Amanda Schnetzer, who is the Bush Institute Director. Former President George W. Bush had noted that both Laura and he had dedicated their lives to help support the veterans and their families. Bush also stated that the Bush Institute is focused on being able to help veterans any way that they can and that even included any invisible scars that they may have had. Through the years Bush always made it one of his main goals to help those that served who needed help no matter what.
