Yanni Hufnagel’s Background
Yanni Hufnagel is an assistant coach at the collegiate or amateur level in the United States. He was born and raised in the affluent town of Scarsdale in Westchester County which is located outside of New York City. Ironically, Yanni Hufangel did not make it to the Scarsdale High School basketball team. From then on, he has focused on something that he has found great success in. That is coaching and recruiting players for the teams that he coaches.
Only in his mid thirties, Yanni Hufnagel is considered to be one of the best coaching prospects in the country right now. He is most famous for helping to develop viral basketball star, Jeremy Lin, who played for the Harvard University men’s basketball team. Jeremy Lin was the star of the Harvard Crimson and led them to their best season in a long time that culminated with an Ivy league basketball conference championship. During this championship season, Mr. Hufnagel was assistant coach at the Harvard Crimson and helped the team recruit their top talent.
Yanni Hufnagel’s Basketball Coaching Career
After working as a graduate assistant at the University of Oklahoma Men’s basketball team for two years, Yanni Hufnagel was hired to be assistant coach at Harvard University for the Crimson’s men’s basketball team. He had a highly successful stint there and assisted the Crimson head coach for four years. While assistant coach at Harvard, the university produced NBA sensation Jeremy Lin and won a historic Ivy league conference title.
Yanni Hufnagel left the Crimson in 2014 and joined the Vanderbilt Commodores in Nashville, Tennessee as assistant coach for a year. He then moved to be assistant coach at the University of California Berkeley Men’s basketball team. After two seasons at Berekely, Yanni Hufnagel joined the staff at the University of Nevada Wolfpack, where he coaches to this day.
